The 2009-2010 college football season is underway!! While there are many notable games being played at this moment and later in the day, the second game of the season was Thursday in Boise, Idaho on the famous blue turf that the Boise State Broncos call home. Unfortunately, the opener did not go as planned for the away team, Oregon. Oregon wore all-white to BSU's all-blue jerseys and turf, but even with the stand-out uniforms the night did not go well for the Ducks. Not only did they lose 19-8, but their starting running back, LeGarrette Blount, may have had one of the worst days in his career at Oregon. Blount had -5 yards rushing for the entire game, and after 3 quarters of a rough football game, he unleashed his anger. Boise State defensive end Byron Hout said something to Blount, and whatever he said was just enough to make him pay for it. Blount gave Hout a punch to the jaw, which Blount immediately wanted back. The punch ended up costing the 1,000-yard rusher in 2008 his entire season, including a bowl game if Oregon plays in one. Not only is this bad for his NFL draft stock (many thought he could go in the second or third round), but this is bad for Oregon as well. They lost who was suppose to be their impact player on offense, and their next leading rusher from last year accumulated 166 yards on the ground. Now, they will have to not only lean on Jeremiah Masoli, but they will have to rely on him to lead this team. Not a smart move by a player who has had incidents in the past, and definitely not a good start to Chip Kelly's coaching career at Oregon.
