What a game. That's all I can say. I had a feeling it would be like that. Yesterday morning, I was sitting on my couch thinking of what to write about for college football. There were so many headlines from the first week: Alabama beating Virginia Tech in the night fight, Iowa blocking two field goals in the last 7 seconds to stop Northern Iowa from pulling off the upset, Ohio State almost being taken down by Navy at home, BYU upsetting Oklahoma in a game that the defending Heisman winner Sam Bradford got injured and much more. I chose to write about Bradford and the Sooners, but I was very close to writing about my prediction for Miami beating FSU in a great game. I thought the game would be exciting, but last nights game was so exciting that Bobby Bowden said it was the 3rd greatest game he has ever been apart of out of his 34 years at Florida State. The ACC really needed a game like this. This is said to be one of the weakest conferences out of the six major conferences, and they had 6 of the 10 teams that had played prior to this FSU-Miami game lose their season openers. Two of them, Duke and Virginia, lost to Division I-AA teams! With all hope down for the conference, this instant classic put the ACC back in the spotlight. Although Florida State hung in there till the end and could have easily won the game on the last play, you have to give props to Miami. Many people, including Lou Holtz, picked Florida State to win the ACC, and Miami went to Tallahassee and took down the Seminoles. Jacory Harris had two interceptions (one forced because he got hit as he was throwing), but looked almost flawless other than that, racking up two passing TDs and one rushing, along with 386 yards. The 'Canes needed the sophomore to step up if they wanted to win, and he did exactly that. Miami is a team that many are going to watch out for after this epic win at FSU. Looking forward, this team plays 3 straight top 15 teams, but I like the Canes this year. I don't know if they can win the ACC, but I definitely would not be surprised if they did. After October 3rd when they play Oklahoma, they have a pretty manageable schedule. If they can win two of their next three (which will be difficult), I think they have a shot at getting back to the BCS for the first time since the 2004 Orange Bowl against none other than Florida State.
