Oregon did not have a good game on Thursday. Oklahoma had an even worse game Saturday night at the new Cowboys stadium. 1) They lost. In their season opener. And 2) the Heisman winner, Sam Bradford, returned for his junior year to pursue a championship, and those hopes may have gone down the drain. Bradford turned down all the NFL money to come back to school, and in the second half of their season opener against BYU, he got hit hard and sprained his throwing shoulder. Bradford will be evaluated again in one to two weeks, but he may or may not have surgery. I can't imagine how he feels right now: he came back to school because he wanted to win a championship, and then he gets hurt in the first game of the year, while his team, ranked 3rd in the country, loses. Now, the Sooners will have to use redshirt freshman Landry Jones at quarterback. Last year, this team was one of the best offenses in the country, but were a pass-first team. Now, or atleast for the next couple of games, they will have to be a run-first team. That will be fine with Demarco Murray and Chris Brown, the Oklahoma running backs who each had 1,000 yards rushing in 2008. Let's just say Bradford misses the regular season. If so, I do not see them getting by Texas or Oklahoma State. The one game that I think will be intriguing is Oklahoma at Miami (FL). This should be a difficult game because Miami is home, and I don't know if Oklahoma can win that game. I wouldn't be surprised if they did, but that is not very far away now, and Landry Jones has not even played a full collegiate game at quarterback yet. Also, the last thing they want to do is rush Bradford back onto the field. Bob Stoops cares about his team, but he knows that Bradford has a pro career ahead of him. Even if Bradford is ready to go later in the season, he still will not be 100%. Watch out, Oklahoma. You have a long road ahead of you.
